Working Well

Working

Relationship issues in the workplace was the key driver for our client to get in touch. In particular, she was finding it difficult to communicate with her new line manager and struggling with organisational changes that had resulted in changes within the team and increased work loads. The client was in a performance management process and was fearful of the outcome.

The focus of our work together was to consider client’s increased anxieties about her ability to meet the growing demands whilst maintaining her own personal working ethos and standards. This coupled with adapting to change, different working practices and a different style of management, all added to the anxiety and a sense of being overwhelmed. By working with our highly skilled, experienced counsellor, our client was able to articulate and release much of the anxiety she felt and make use of cognitive behavioural techniques to address automatic negative thinking and behaviours.

As a result, she was able to bring her anxiety under control and to acknowledge and recognise success this enabled her to feel in control which impacted positively on both her performance, the way that she engaged with her manager and new colleagues.
